Following last week’s JD Welsh Cup ties, there is a full round of fixtures in all three JD Cymru Leagues this weekend. Here are the pick of the matches.

JD Cymru Premier – Aberystwyth Town vs Pontypridd United (Friday, 8pm)

Going into their home clash against Pontypridd United on Friday night, Aberystwyth Town are only three points away from the top half but also only two points clear of the relegation zone.

That shows just how tight it is in the bottom half of the table, as does the fact that 11th-place Pontypridd would rise to seventh with victory at Park Avenue.

Both clubs were beaten comfortably last weekend – the Seasiders lost 3-0 to Bala Town and the Dragons were thrashed 5-0 by Connah’s Quay Nomads – so will be hoping to bounce back and begin the weekend in style.

Pontypridd got their first points of the season when they won 2-1 against Aberystwyth in the reverse fixture in August as Owain Jones and Ben Ahmun got on the scoresheet.

JD Cymru North – Holywell Town vs Prestatyn Town (Friday, 7:30pm)

Holywell Town and Prestatyn Town are separated by just 12 miles on a map and only two places in the JD Cymru North table ahead of their meeting on Friday night.

Third-place Holywell are currently on 31 points and only behind the top two – Colwyn Bay and Llandudno – on goal difference, with a clear leading pack having emerged.

Johnny Haseldin’s side have won their last 10 league matches in succession and eased past fifth tier outfit Hakin United with a 5-1 win in the Welsh Cup last weekend.

Prestatyn were knocked out of the cup by Buckley but have won three of their last four matches in the league to rise to fifth in the table. They possess October’s player of the month Dan Atkins in their ranks.

JD Cymru South – Carmarthen Town vs Briton Ferry Llansawel (Saturday, 2:30pm)

Briton Ferry’s unbeaten league record this season will be put to the test when they travel to promotion rivals Carmarthen Town on Saturday.

Andy Hill’s side are currently third in the JD Cymru South and have the division’s best defensive record as they have conceded just eight times in 11 matches.

Carmarthen are one point better off in second place following a three-game winning streak which has seen them climb the table. They sit three points behind leaders Barry Town United.

All eyes will be on Luke Bowen during this game, with the Briton Ferry striker facing his former club and hoping to add to the nine goals he has already scored this term.
