With no football to keep us entertained right now, it is a perfect time to look back on some of the greatest moments in the history of our domestic game in Wales, and what better way to do that then through the eyes of the people who have made them happen?

That’s why we’ve reached out to some familiar faces from the domestic game in Wales to hear more from them about what their best moments have been during their time spent in the Welsh game.

Today we bring you the top five moments of one of the most lethal strikers in Welsh football – The New Saints front man, Greg Draper. Read on to hear more about Greg’s Welsh football highlights.

1 – First JD Cymru Premier Title

In my first season we won the league title on the last game of the season against Bangor. We were only a point ahead of Bangor City and we needed to win that game, which we ended up doing 5-0 and I scored a hat-trick, so to win the league like that in my first season was very special.

2 – Winning the 2013/14 JD Welsh Cup

We were 2-0 down at halftime and I think Chris Venables had scored both of the goals to put them up at the break. I came off the bench after about an hour, I think, and scored two goals to get it back to 2-2.

Mike Wilde scored the winner with five minutes to go and we took the game 3-2, so it was a very memorable day to come off the bench and help the team win the game like that.

3 – Scoring 100th TNS goal

This came the same day as I scored four goals against Cefn Druids, and it was the same day we lifted the title – which was Scott’s first as manager.

I’d actually been on a bit of a goal-drought before that. The game was in March I think and I hadn’t scored since January when I got my 99th goal against Newtown. I think Ryan Brobbel tried to play the ball over the top for me and it just sort of bounced nicely into my path and I blasted it home for the 100th goal and went on to reach 103 in the same game.

4 – First Irn Bru Cup Fixture

I remember our first game in the Irn Bru Cup was very special. It was up in Forfar and we won the game 3-1 – I managed to get a hat-trick on the day too.

We went on to reach the semi-finals that year too, so we did well in the competition that year, but what else was memorable about that game was that Paul Harrison set me up for a goal in the game. We’d been talking at the start of the season about how he’d never set me up, but he did for the first one with a quick ball over the top, so that was really memorable.

5 – Winning the 2018/19 JD Welsh Cup

Last year’s cup final against Connah’s Quay was very memorable. There has been a big rivalry built up between both sides obviously over the last few years, of course, so it was really nice to win this final.

We were on a great run towards the end of last season and I don’t think we lost a game after Christmas, so to win this cup final was very nice and obviously to score the opening goal as well was good to get us off the mark in the game against the holders at the time.
